ivo georgiev

Chief Executive Officer

Ivo is a cyber security veteran with over 25 years of experience in both management and technical roles. As a trusted client adviser, Ivo is an expert in aligning security programs to enterprise strategy and business objectives and designing security architecture for business operations. Through his extensive experience in highly regulated industries, Ivo helps clients comply with various cyber security and privacy standards and regulations, such as PCI DSS, NERC CIP, HIPAA, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, FOIPPA, PIPA, PIPEDA, and EU GDPR. 

Working as a cyber security architect, compliance auditor, and management consultant in the energy, telecom, financial, health, retail, transportation, government and e-commerce sectors, Ivo has acquired in-depth knowledge of complex business and technical corporate processes. He has brought his expertise to high-visibility projects with organizations such as Accenture, BC Hydro, numerous health authorities, and the City of Vancouver. Additionally, Ivo has worked on secure integration and operation of smart meters, data networks and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) management systems.

Ivo holds the internationally recognized CISSP security designation awarded by (ISC)2, as well as CISA (Information Systems Auditing), CISM (Security Management) and CRISC (Risk and Information Systems Control) designations awarded by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He is also a graduate of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.


Alex dow

Chief Technology Officer

Over the past decade and a half, Alex has helped organizations assess, implement, and optimize security solutions to prevent, detect and manage cyber security threats. He brings over a decade of experience from three mission critical Security Operation Centers (SOC), including the Vancouver 2010 Olympics SOC. Alex leverages his front-line experience and business-driven risk management approach to provide pragmatic solutions to clients with measurable risk reductions.

Alex is a strong believer in standardization, measurement, and automation. His methodology focuses on assessing client’s security capabilities against industry leading control frameworks, identifying risks and implementing technologies and processes to improve situational awareness, operational efficiencies, and incident response capabilities.

Alex has also focused on building and fostering the local cyber security community through the Mainland Advanced Research Society (MARS), a not-for-profit organization focused on building the community, research, and mentorship through knowledge forums and networking events throughout the year. He is the president of MARS and executive producer of the society’s premier two-day security conference BSides Vancouver; a high-caliber gathering for cyber security professionals, hackers, coders, and the greater tech community.


sandy buchanan

Chief Security Officer

Sandy is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) providing critical insight into the cyber security governance and risk management practices of organizations by aligning their core business processes to security management frameworks such as ISO 27001/2. His expertise also includes securing critical safety systems and providing privacy assurance for electronic identity verification systems.

Information Security Analyst

Johnny graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia with a focus in Electrical Engineering. Throughout his last year of school, Johnny found his passion in the ever-changing world of cyber security. Since then, he has been pursuing his joy in the art of breaking things by engaging in reverse engineering and webapp testing. His last position before joining Mirai was working with the federal government. Johnny is driven to bridge the haunting gap between current day developers and application security professionals. He holds the CompTIA Security+ certification, the first of many to come. Johnny’s favourite activity is drinking copious amounts of coffee.


martin stewart

Sales and Business Development

Martin Stewart is accountable for driving North American sales for Mirai Security.  He is responsible for the development and management of direct sales, indirect channel sales and new partnerships. Martin brings to the position a successful track record of more than 25 years that includes high profile positions and recognized sales achievements in the high-tech and services industries. Martin specializes in forming strategic alliances and programs that add value to the customer relationship.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics from the University of British Columbia, as well as has sales accreditations from Karrass and Vansec. 


hari khalsa

GRC Consultant

Hari is an accomplished security practitioner, having spent the last 5 years mitigating business risks within enterprise technology environments using a variety of trusted standards and frameworks, such as PCI DSS, FOIPPA, NIST CSF, and ISO 27001/2. Over the course of his career, he has secured financial systems and advised on GRC initiatives within the government, retail, and e-commerce sectors. Hari is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology, holding a Bachelor of Technology in Digital Forensics.


parker blackman


Parker specialized in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of British Columbia and cyber security was a mystery to her until she joined Mirai - we’ve got her up to speed now and are slowly but surely turning her into a geek like the rest of us. Parker has worked in marketing for companies such as Yelp and Investors Group, but decided to switch things up and took on an operations role with Mirai. Her passions include writing lists on sticky notes and putting them all over everything, and her dog Wallace.
